In the heart of Tsavo West National Park, with its magnificent open grasslands, scrublands, Acacia woodlands and rocky ridges, Severin Safari Camp offers its guests a unique combination of adventure, recreation and wellbeing.
The camp was constructed with an elegant feel and traditional African style. The tents and suites are equipped with traditional wooden furniture and warm colors give a cozy and familiar atmosphere.
Each of the 27 tents and suites offer a stunning view over the beautiful African landscape with a steady stream of wildlife visiting the camp’s waterholes day and night.
The Severin Safari Camp serves a buffet breakfast and à la carte lunch and dinner in the “Out of Africa” Restaurant. The chef’s speciality is marinated meat from the Kenyan highlands served on a hot stone or as a fondue, served fresh vegetables and salads. Excellent wines complete the dining experience.
Additionally the camp invites guests to enjoy the spectacular surroundings during private bush breakfasts or barbecues.
Unwind in the Kenbali Spa after an exciting day in the bush. Enjoy the natural surroundings from the pool or relax with a massage or treatment provided by the spa’s trained therapists. Or if you are still feeling energetic, then take pleasure in the panoramic views from the fitness tent equipped with a treadmill, stepper, bicycle, weight bench and yoga mats.
Enjoy sundowner drinks with a stunning view of Mt. Kilimanjaro from the camp bar or terrace. Alternatively, not far from the bar, guests can warm themselves by a camp fire in the evening. Spend the evening with an ice-cold gin and tonic and relax under the stars as animals come to drink at the waterholes nearby. Known local Massai warriors will accompany you to your tents after dark.
Severin Safari Camp – Location
Severin Safari Camp is hidden in the remote Kitani Wildlife area of Tsavo West National Park overlooking the Mt. Kilimanjaro.
The eco-friendly luxury camp offers a unique combination of adventure, wellbeing and relaxation.
Tsavo West and East National Park is recognized as the third largest national park in the world and rich with great herds of elephants, giraffes, zebras and impalas.
With over 22.000 square kilometers there is plenty to discover during the game drives.
Severin Safari Camp is accessible either by regular scheduled flights from Mombasa and Nairobi Wilson airport or by short private charter flights. The nearest airstrips are Finch Hattons and Kilanguni (both about a 30 minute drive from the Camp).
The Camp is also accessible by road and is 250 kilometers away from Mombasa.

Severin Safari Camp – Activities
The Severin Safari Camp is an ideal starting point for guided game drives and memorable excursions in the surrounding areas.
Keep your camera and binoculars ready and search for the ‘Big Five’ – elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard.
Experience the African savannah by night. Equipped with spot lights and accompanied by the skilled tracker, you will be astonished how active the animals are after sun set.

Learn about animal tracking, the flora and fauna, abundant bird life and the traditional lifestyle of the locals. Learn how to make a fire without matches and which local plants and herbs can be used as medicines.
Exclusive bush walk with an experienced, armed KWS ranger
This is a real adventure. Observe the smaller and larger animals and follow their tracks. The ranger will give you a lot of interesting information about tracking and the diverse flora and fauna. (Please register for this tour 24 hours before, minimum of two guests).

The sunset at Poacher’s Lookout is an unforgettable experience. From the original stake out point of the poachers, you can enjoy a breathtaking view on the 5.895 meters Kilimanjaro. Enjoy the beautiful sunset while having a glass of sparkling wine and canapés.

Severin Safari Camp – Eco Aspects
Severin Safari Camp practices the principals of ecological tourism. The camp has developed a program to protect the fragile ecosystem of the park.
It is important for Severin Safari Camp to also teach the guests about the environment and natural protection during a “Back of the House” tour.
Fresh water is brought to Severin Safari Camp by using the own pipeline which comes directly from Mzima Springs. Hot water is made using solar energy and heat recovery of the power generators.
Severin Safari Camp is the first camp to possess a waste water treatment plant which cleans the entire waste water from the tents and the kitchen.
Severin Safari Camp has also won the TravelLife Award and in 2014 was awarded with the Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award for excellent service.
The Camp also supports the association founded by the general manager, Mr. Severin Schulte, Skills for Kenya e.V. It helps young Kenyans with education and training in order to enable a better start in their working life and develop knowledge and skills. Special attention is paid to socially weak and disadvantaged children and adolescents whose environment and familiar situations don’t offer the financial means for education and training.
