Satao Camp - Tsavo East National Park
Satao Camp takes you back to the classical Out of Africa safari with green canvas tents, bush style showers and personal and friendly service; evoking a feeling of the true ‘Old African’ experience. Our location is indisputably unique; nestled beneath the shade of the old Tamarind trees, just in front of a very favored waterhole, our guests are ensured breathtaking view to the many elephants coming daily for a drink and a refreshing wash.
Satao Camp consists of 20 classical canvas tents, dining room, reception, gift shop and an observation tower overlooking our waterhole. We have 4 luxury suites for honeymooners or guests who feel for a little extra luxury, 6 family tents and 10 standard tents. 1 tent has been carefully constructed to accommodate guests with physically challenges. The tents are all en-suite with unique African furniture, comfortable beds, electricity and a spacious bathroom with hand wash basins, flush toilets and bush style showers. Every evening or on request our staff will bring you hot water for the most wonderful safari shower experience. The luxury tents have solar heated showers. All tents are carefully positioned and have a private verandah from which one can enjoy the scenery and the many elephants that comes to drink, wash and groom each other during the day and the night.
The dining room overlooks the Satao Oasis and our chefs prepare a delicious selection of international cuisine to satisfy every taste bud that visits us, vegetarian dishes are always on offer. Breakfasts and lunches are easily enjoyed under the shade of our 200 years old Tamarind tree, whereas dinners are served in our cozy and rustic dining room. After dinner, relax around the glow of the campfire, watch the stars and the atmosphere of Tsavo and swap stories of the day’ adventures.
